Leader line, technically, can be just ordinary line, but usually is a special line that is meant for tying the rigs, or if you're using floats or lures, the extra line extension from your main line that is stronger than the main line itself.

Leader line is also (depending on what kind leader line u bot which depends on what type of rig u're tying), almost always more stiff than normal line that you'd use on ur reel.
