The height changes of the tide between high tide and low tide dictates the current flow rate during the period in between.

Some places better when there is a decent current flow and other sites require as little as possible (eg. narrow channel), so there is no right answer for your question. More import is where you're going. Asking the boatman might help, but unfortunately all boatman tells the same stories because they want to make a living. Smile

All fishermen are liars except for you and me, and to tell you the truth, I'm not sure about you.

***Hi bro Wee,it all depends on where u fish n whose boat u r wit,I suppose u r fishing daytime, jus by judging the dates given,I wld prefer 20 Aug as the day rising tides suits more ideally 4 yr fishing time given...... Sailing Sailing Sailing......

Also,2 take note of the weather forecast on the date itself, wind also plays a very critical role in getting fishes n less choppy water u wil njoy entire fishing trip..... Look ma! Look ma! Look ma!......

Most likely u wld encounter heavy downpour, strong wind n mass under current on the day of fishing...... ......Fyi 15 days in Aug wil b wet...... Faint Faint Faint ......

(Jus my 1 ct suggestions,I cld b inaccurate prayer )

Gd Luck n God bless us all, Group

sad 2 say...both dates u haf chosen not ideal for bottom fishing...12/8 is likely "si lao" (lunar 25 day)....20/8 is strong current (lunar 4 day).... can deduce strength of current flow from hi-lo tide diff as well as lunar calendar ....if those dates r ur only options...i'd take 20/8 cos imho...strong current is better than no current .... sometimes...strong currents big fish come out to play Smile .... sometimes...boatman may haf spots to "siam lao" & still can haf good catch...jus my 2 cents.... anyways....currents haf gone haywire these days...when u expect nice current..u get a raging bull & vice versa..so good luck.....
