Hi usually for me, I will strip of the whole spool of line to soak in warm water for around 10-20mins if there is saltwater usage. Then will strip the reel, remove the spool for cleaning using and cloth with warm water. Wipe the frame as the salt might interfere, especially the gaps where the spool runs along the frame. Use a little Corrosion-X on a small cotton and run it around the spool and inside frame to protect. But for usage more than 5 times bearing cleaning and interior deep cleaning will be done. So far I had been doing this and no corrosion has occurred and reel still works nicely. How this helps. Very Happy

Thanks for the prompt reply. Can I jus remove the line, rinse the whole reel with warm running water and then add a little lubricant to the bearings? Also , may I ask where can I get corrosion x that u mention. Thanks

Some people do it that way but, If you rinse the whole reel, Sometimes water will seep into the reel, affecting performance. Corrosion-X can be bought at tackle shops. Actually a little will do so it will have a slight coating of oil to make the surface more waterproof. But Usually people will use a thing like zinc or something, can't remember. There are actually products sold at tackle shops for reel surface to enhance protection from salt water. Hope it helps.
