Tanjong Pinang Fishing Trip 19/5 to 21/5

TP trip - 19 to 21 May 2010

This is my first trip to TP and it was a new experience for me. Journey there was long and tedious taking a total of about 10 hours before reaching fishing spot. We had to use Ah Kiang's brother (Edy) boat because captain of Wisata Boat 1 was getting married. Boat was spacious but slow.

Catch was bad on the 1st and 2nd night as the current was very strong. Most of the catch were caught on morning of 2nd day. From 6am to 9am, fishing was frantic, fishes were caught every 5 to 10 minutes. Sometimes with 2 fishes up at the same time. Afternoon was slower. Had bad weather the next morning as it was raining heavily. So, we packed up headed back to shore earlier.

Caught lots of Amberjacks, mostly 1 to 2 kg, Kacis, Groupers, Sting rays, 1 Cobia etc. Total catch estimated at 100 fishes in total. Not a lot, but considering the time catching...was pretty good.

Have an enjoyable time as techies were very helpful, food was good and plentiful, company was great and we even had fresh sashimi. Yummy.

Ice box issue...

Postby cheongpck » Tue May 25, 2010 10:16 am

Had no issues as we went on weekday. Back on Pengiun boat at 2pm. Think need to give some Kopi $$$...

We took back 7 ice boxes. All 3/4 full. Total 8 anglers...

Think weekend will be bad...

how heavy was the gear that was used on the trip?

will be going there soon and was wondering what kind of gear would

be best. a rough guide would be nice for jigging and bot bashing etc...

We return from Fishing and was on Wavemaster ferry on 24 May, we saw 2 guys off load themselves, to settle the 3 ice boxes being off loaded cos their permit allow 6 they they brought 9 ice boxes at TP.

They were Elly's customers and these things happened, to the 2 poor fellows I know how frustrated it can be, when this happened!
