Hi interested in getting the shimano Blue rose. Will be using it for sea fishing in Indonesia or Malaysia. Can anyone advise me whether the japan version (second hand) or the latest blue rose Shimano Ocean Blue Rose Inbreed.

Hi Shimano,

I would like to buy a bluerose, can you help to provide information to the question below?

1) What does the PE line stated on most rod mean?
Does that mean that the Rod can only hold the weight as stated?
E.g, if it stated PE4, does that mean that it can lift up weight up to 40lbs and anything more than that it will start to break?

2) Am I right to say that the Line Max (PExx) means the strength of the middle section of the rod and Lure weight means the strength of the tip of the rod?

3) How do you define lure weight? What does the Slow, Fast, Regular and Monster Drive mean? Does the lure weight have anything to do with the Action (S, R, F, MD)? If it stated as Slow (s), does that mean that the tip is more stiff, in another word, it can go with heavier lure?

4) From the catalogue, it stated that inbreed is for deep and heavy jigging and full Gene is for light and middle jigging, but howcome the PE and Lure weight for Full Gene model is greater than Inbreed model?

5)How do I know which model comes with a Gimbal?

I will recommend the new Blue Rose Inbreed as it is lighter in weight so you wont be fatigue when you jig. If you are getting the 2nd hand japan version Blue Rose, the warranty may have expire so its better to get a new one.

Hi fireiori,

Below is the answers to your questions:

1) 1PE is equivalent to 10lbs. You are right to say that PE4 is 40lbs.

2)Line weight and lure weight is the recommended lbs of line and weight of lures to use respectively.

3)Slow, Fast, Regular and Monster Drive mean the type of actions. Yes, the actions of the rod will determine the type of lure weight used. If it is stated slow, it may not mean it is stiff.

4)Yes, you are right to say that the catalogue stated that inbreed is for deep and heavy jigging and full Gene is for light and middle jigging, however not all PE and Lure weight for Full Gene model is greater than Inbreed model.

5) Usually , the higher PE have gimbal.

I hope that I had answered all your questions.

Thanks & Regards
