|
|
5th visit to BSR, last night was pouring cats and dogs... well the fish is reacting exactly the same everywhere else during heavy rain, not much of a bite due to water disturbances and varied temperatures. Landed a few huge patins with my friends...It does not matter, my target fish is the Siamese Carp anyway...i will not want to land any Mekong Catfish, too tired...hard work in office today.
Wait wait wait...drinking beer, talk cock sing song, enjoying the pouring rain wile relaxing in a cozy chair in that hut.
Closing to 11pm...a strike.... my guide just looked at the line, and smile...this is it! I asked why he knows? He said that when carp strikes and run, they tend to shake the heads violently, unlike Mekong...just raw power pull and run.
Played with this baby for 15mins, dashed under the structure twice, poor guide needed to go under the structure to untangle the line for me. I sure do not want to lose this carp, the previous gigantic one lost during my last visit made me upset.
Finally landed...although she is short...but so FAT!!! asked guide how heavy, he said 30kg. I think it might be a bit less, but I trusted the guide's experience. Lifted it for photo session, released unharmed....then started to packed up.
My objective completed...targetted Giant Siamese Carp, got one, packed up, sweet dreams....

It struck on my guide's outfit, which I am not sire of the specs. I know only that he uses powerpro line of 65lb braided. size of reel above 6000 shimano (twinpower I think)
my own outfit I brought there was the PENN Spinfisher 850SSM, fitted with Powerpro 50lb, rod was a cheap Surecatch jigmaster (but looks nicely constructed)
Thanks Kev - I will be posting my barra farem catch soon.
