for general purpose fishing rod,i prefer it to be light n slim.also good bite detection where the tip would bend rather than wriggle Very Happy

wat abt big bait,bite detection important?...and if you are using low reel.....does the reducer comes in handy when fighting a big fish?

1. The rod has to be powerful enough to launch big baits but not too stiff to cast.

2. Tip has to be able to control a good-sized fish so it should have some muscle, at the same time, it should have some bite detection (actually for big baits, I never bother to look at my rod tip, my Grandwave will tell me when a fish is "on")

3. Weight: prefer it to be light.

4. Diameter: prefer it to be slim.

5. Cost. HOpefully pocket won't burn a hole lah....

6. Colour / graphics: who cares ? To me, performance outweighs everything else.

hhmm like shikari said,if using big bait ,bite detection not important,just wait for the ratchet to go off...hehehhe
also i always place my reel 7-8 inches from the butt cap to ease the pumping n reeling in of line so i would not need the use of reducer/extender... Very Happy

WEll... IMHO, i think a good surf rod should be lightweight.. easier to handle...tip that can hold at least a size 3 when casting.. for fishing wise... i think surecatch series can fit ur budget while giving the performance... i'm happy with mine.. at only $35 for a 3m. size 3 sinkers can cast good distance.
