This 2012, NTU Anglers’ Club co-organized with Alumni Anglers’ Association to a 2 day trip to Rompin for Annual Offshore Competition and Ewaves Fishbyte sponsored all the awesome prizes and goodie bags, the club would like to thanks them for making the competition possible. Goodies bag consist of E-waves shopping voucher ($5) & M&W Kerchief and M&W dry fit T-Shirt were given to the participants.

On 18 May about 8 .30pm, the club met up with the participants at NTU and registration began. Following up, the VIP bus came at about 9.30pm and 15 participants took the indented bus and the journey to Rompin began while the rest took the drive up.

We reached Rompin river chalet at about 19th May, 2am, our advance party had already drew the keys to the chalet so the transition was smooth and everyone had their OTOT once touched down. The rest who drove up themselves hit Rompin at about 4am.

OTOT Breakfast began at 7am and with a bit of preparation, boats set off at 8-9am window. Each boat has a marshaller to ensure fair play and do some phototaking.

The weather was fine, the water was clear however, the catch rate ain’t that amazing on 19th May. At the end of the day, the heaviest catch was cobia at 10.25kg from Ah Mat boat and the second heaviest is dorado at 4.16kg from Amy boat. The rest of the participants came back slightly disappointed with the average catch ranging from 3-1 kg of todak and etc. Sam boat managed to land 2 sailfish however billfish were not considered in the competition but they sure got excited and enjoyed themselves with sails.

Thereafter was dinner and OTOT time with late night game of Chelsea vs Bayern Munich.

20th May started out early, as most boat set out earlier than 19th May to grab any precious time left for the competition. The average catches was better than the 1st day as most participants landed fishes that gave them some excitement, major winners for 2nd day were Dorado at 3.82kg from Xiang boat, 3 X Ebek at about 3kg each from ah Fei boat.
