Hi everybody, after an extremely long time of looking around on these forums, I have decided I am ready to start fishing, and that it is time for me to purchase a rod. However, I am still unsure of what kind of fishing I should do as a beginner with only slightly more than 2 weeks of practice on a friend's rod. It would be terrific if you could leave me some advice down below on what kind of rod I should purchase, what kind of fishing I should start with. Thank you. Very Happy

So.. U n ur fren do luring most of the time, and would be doing it often ?
If so, a 6" - 6"6' should help, and a Shimano 4000 or Daiwa 2500 generally good enough.
Depending on ur budget reely, $100 for rod and $200 for reel ? Very Happy

Erm my friend does all kinds of fishing. He has fly fishing rod, a baitcaster and a luring rod. Im thinking of buying a rod type more suited to a beginner's level. My budget is from $100-$250

Hi Buddy,

You can try this combination. Eupro SaltyFighter or Salty Chief paired with a Penn Battle 4000. With your budget you probably will have enough money for braided line too. Smile Go to Sincere Tackle in Yishun. Smile[/u]

This setup can be used for luring in the wild, normal pay pond fishing and maybe even Dave's C&R pond.

Bassterra x wrap blue. $80-$100 dependent on condition. Erm.. I mean 2nd hand cond.

Shimano Sustain $200 ++ new or a Daiwa Freams KIX $100+++

As a beginner, suggest you spend $40 n below for a rod and $80 n below for a reel. Until you get the hang of it and know what you like then invest on a better rod and reel.

All fishermen are liars except for you and me, and to tell you the truth, I'm not sure about you.

Forget about luring, your hit rate is going to suck and you will get bored and drop the hobby. Get out to sea, where your hit rate goes up enormously, get hooked on fishing, then you can consider luring when you have nothing better to do.

You should be able to find something at Joe Tackle along Beach Road or Top Gear at Geylang. Good luck on your new hobby.

Hi everybody. Just got my luring setup. A second hand Daiwa Jupiter 6ft spinning rod and a brand new daiwa world spin 3000 spinning reel. Got a popper and a minnow. Anywhere with a good supply of PB, temensis or toman that I can give my new setup a go at?
