I owned a EP82/38 before but I broke it at the butt join area on eva handle side while casting a 180g stickbait. May be I have push it too hard. The 82/38 in my opinion an all rounded gt rod for light chugger up to 125g and stickbait to around 160g. I have never use a 88/35 but judging from its spec I think it will best cast a 110-120g stickbait and start to saturates from 140g up. For chugger likely to max out at 110g. The feeling of it working a chugger is like popping using a long jigging rod giving you a yo-yo feeling due to its slightly more parabolic characteristic than the usual gt rod. Yes, it does go easier on your back when hook up but I find that it is neither a here nor there for stickbait or chugger. That's only my person opinion.

Where are you going next with such a long rod? Inshore popping?

Thanks for the reply. Good idea! inshore popping sounds interesting. i am actually thinking of using this rod for 90 to 120g stickbaits, i've got a seperate rod for chuggers. Hope to achieve greater distance and better action with a softer tip / longer rod. Any idea if this will match a 12000 size twin power? or u reckon i need a bigger reel? Thanks. Smile

Since you already owned a chugger rod the more you shld look for pure stickbait rod and carpenter's TBL has a better range and BLC 83/40 works stickbait wonder from 70-200g like the one ferrislong mentioned and I owned one too which is a hell lot better feel than EP though 5" shorter won't make a diff. I have seen BLC83/40 flip gamma 200g to 70m whereas I was struggling with 180g on EP82/38.

TW12k will match either BLC or TBL up to 40kg GT depends on the terrain.

Cheers and tight line ....
