Hi FK friends, recently took an interest in jigging rather than the normal fishing.

I would like to get some recommendation for a setup with those 3 brand of reels in mind and to pair with a rod that you can recommend as well. Don't really have a tight budget but I wouldn't wana get a
Bomb as well.

After I get the setup I will probably go to near places etc rompin and south china sea before I head out to further places. Need alot of help with this. Thank you !!

Hi bro. Firstly, overhead or spinning? I assume it to be overhead as u mentioned accurate and jm. A accurate bx-2 500N will be good for scs and deeper waters. But will be too overkill for rompin . So maybe u get 2 set ups as the jig weights used are both different . If u are talking about saltiga spinning a 4000-4500 will be nice . With power and line capacity . I am using a saltiga 4000H for kuching with 100g jig. A pe 2-4 rod will be nice for jigs ranging 80-150g

Hello fellw FK thanks for taking time to reply !! Overhead for me so I was referring to saltiga sa30 or 40 haha. But two set ups would be over my budget so I would have to go overkill I guess. Anyway the con about overkill is just that no fight for smaller fish right ? Considering the accurate as well. Sigh so much option. Do you know the diff for bx and bx-2? How much should I prepare for a rod and reel ah haha. Need mental preparations haha.

I see. Hmmm yup overkill meaning the fish gt no fighting chance haha. And accurate is quite heavy compared to jm but its solid. Its actually made for angmohs, quite big to grip But i dont have a problem with it though. Ok bx and bx-2 its just a matter of single speed and dual speed. Why im stating a bx-2 cause u are able to change the speed of retrieve in a click , gear ratios. 3:1 and 6:1 so low gear lesser effort but lesser retrieve, high gear more effort more retrieve. So with bx-2 i can do btm as well as jigging. So u are covered for 2 types. Almost impossible to jig for whole trips. So maybe can play btm and rest =p . Hmm rod wise starting from jigging master . Its good brand, believe many bros here using. About 300-400 range to get a powerspell in the selling section. For bx-2 if first hand about 880-900. But trust me its superb. Jm reel about the price too. Try to feel both the reels before u commit. Though i will choose accurate haha but its up to your own preference.

Ooooh thanks so much for the info ! Guess i'll have to find ways to get a feel of both before getting one. But i feel quite paiseh ah go ask kaki out to view then later dont want. Or go shop to view then walk away empty handed haha cause most probably i'll get 2nd to fit into my 1k budget setup(rod+reel).

Oh and the numbers behind is somewhat the size right ? etc bx-2 400 and bx-2 600.

Lastly, is Jm PE 4 reel closest to compare to Bx2 400 ? Im quite skeptical about JM leh heard of rust issues in the interior.

Haha damn, tried not to talk about the rust part for jm reels haha afraid tio bombard by kakis using. But yup thats why i keep telling u to consider accurate instead. And yes bro. Number behind is the size. Its 400,500,600. Hmmm i would say close to . For pe 4 and bx 400. It all goes dOwn to hw much line cap u need. A tip will be using mono backing if u are sure that water depth wont exceed a certain depth. So example 60 m water maybe u can have mono backing and in 150 m braid ? Haha save cost and wont waste lines =p but i dont do that la haha i spool in whole braided!

Hahahaha okay, i think i wont use mono backing as well unless i'm really broke by that time haha. So what's the damage like for reel alone 1st and 2nd hand ? Most likely going for bx-2 but dk which size either ):

Get the narrow version. Bx-2 500n will be good enough. Hmm about 900 for first hand. 2nd hand depends on individual. But in sg most accurate comes with a 5 times AO servicing . So can send in for repair after each season.

Hmmm bro what do you think of bx 500(not the narrow version as well) ? Can't find bx2 2nd hand leh.

Im using the wide version. Narrow is more fr jigging as your lines wont be all over the spool and u are able to grab the reel with your hands to jig. So if its wide, u wont be able to hold it fully. Get a low gear if u are going for single speed, high gear is ok but wont do well if u wanna change to btm fishing.

I'm going for bx2-500N if i can find it. If not then bx2-500. From my understanding(correct my if im wrong but) for jigging 4:1 gear ratio is ideal and the only reason i'm geting a 2 speed real is because i thought 6:1 is better for btm fishing, and if its not then what is it good for ?

Ok bro firstly there is no ideal ratio. Its actually up to u. Ok 4:1 is the average but plus minus. Why low gear, if u are using 300-400g. U wanna try high gear retrieve. Super shag. Same applies to btm fishing. Yes u get The weight up faster. But u got to use a lot of energy to get it up. Sometimes high gears lack the power to reel in. If u kenna big big grouper and im saying those 40 and more kilo ones. Only way is to use low gear to get the power to reel it in .
There are many types of jigging. And retrieve. So play with the speeds and achieve different methods . Who knows what fish may take . =] hmmm for reel wise. Guess dont get the wide one. Not really a jigging reel . But it can be done. Also consider ocea jigger shimano. They are also fantastic reels. Gears close to 4:1 and great drag. For jigging.
